News!

So, I have been sick with the crud all week, but now I am back, and I have NEWS!

First up, some sad news for Eli fans across the pond. I've just heard from my UK editor that THE SPIRIT WAR will not be coming to the UK in print form. It will instead be bundled with SPIRIT'S END into a new omnibus edition called THE REVENGE OF ELI MONPRESS. This means you'll be getting both books cheaper, but the combined version won't be out until November.

However! There is hope! The ebook version of SPIRIT WAR will still be released in the UK on June 5. I realize this is less than idea for those of you without an ereader, and I'm really sorry. No one is more bummed about the way this turned out than I am. I hope you'll stick with the series, I swear that the final two books will be worth the wait.

On to better news! German publisher Dromer has picked up the rights to publish Spirit Thief and Spirit Rebellion in German. However, there's been some funny translation difficulties with the titles. Turns out, the translation for "spirit" in German is "geist," meaning ghost, and "The Ghost Thief" is not a very fitting title for Eli. So, the German editions of Spirit Thief and Spirit Rebellion are being re-titled to "Meister der Stimmen" and “Herr des Windes,” or "Master of Voices" and "Master of the Winds" respectively, which are just about the coolest titles ever. I am very pleased! No pub date or covers yet, but have no fear. I'll post word as soon as I get it.

In other good news, I've just heard that Orbit France will be publishing Spirit Rebellion in French! Oo la la! I've been very happy with Le voleur aux esprits and I'm sure they'll do just as good a job with Spirit Rebellion. Again, no pub date or cover, but I'll post as soon as I get something.

Thank you all for reading, and I hope those of you who already have your copies of THE SPIRIT WAR are enjoying it! And if you've read the book already, won't you please consider posting a review? There is absolutely nothing out on the internet yet, and I need something to link!

<3s forever,
Rachel

Grrrr....

Silly UK publishers.

On the other hand, could you now convince these various European publishers to collectively fund a Euro book tour?

Congrats on the Overseas releases, that is great news.

The German titles sound fantastic! I always love seeing the foreign language version of English books (and vice versa). It's so fascinating to see how titles translate, or which elements of the story make it onto the cover in a different country.

Hello Rachel,

Oh, that's great news for the French publication!
I can't wait to see which cover they'll use for The Spirit Rebellion. I was a bit dubitative when I found out they used the Omnibus's one for The Spirit Thief. But who knows, maybe you'll get another two great covers similar to the new ones for book 2 and 3 :)

Powers! These publishers are a bunch of greedy A holes its already been an insanely long wait for spirit war. now I gotta wait another 6 months. I'm a massive fan and at the moment I'm itching to read the next installment of eli and the rest of the gangs adventures especially after previewing the first couple of chapters earlier this week.

This delay is such bad news just hearing about it has ruined my day especially being so close to the previously suggested release date.

I know this may sound like sucking up, but I just finished the Spirit War and LOVED IT. I went ahead and wrote a review which I posed on my blog (here's the link)

and Amazon, which I gave it 5 stars. I hope it helps as it was such a great book, and can't wait for November.

Hi.

If you live in the UK, you can get the print copy of the Spirit War now by ordering from the US. Amazon.com (not .co.uk) has the Spirit War now.
